Gorge Artists Inc., is a not-for-profit corporation. It launched with sponsorship from The Dalles Art Center, a grant from the Wasco County PUD, and the work of volunteer organizers and founders. The Mission of Gorge Artists (GA) is to advance art and encourage artists in the Columbia River Gorge by:
- Building community among artists and the public
- Promoting art and business education
- Providing opportunities for the public to experience and enjoy art.
Gorge Artists is the founder of the Gorge Artists Open Studio Tour, a yearly public tour of area art studios with the goal of showcasing the wonderful art of the Gorge artists and providing an insight into the environment in which art is created.
Gorge Artists was a sponsor of the Running Ladders installation project created by artist John Maher.
Future projects will include a directory of Gorge Artists and an updated schedule of art workshops throughout the Gorge area. It is our desire to support artists so they can flourish in this beautiful scenic area and bring the experience of art to all art lovers.
